The local document boundary
When you select a file in NoLogPDF, browser APIs give the page temporary access to that selected file. Browser-compatible JavaScript libraries parse, render, or rebuild the document in memory on the same device. The generated result is presented as a local browser download rather than uploaded to a conversion API.
NoLogPDF analytics events do not include selected file names, sizes, contents, passwords, signatures, form entries, metadata values, or output bytes. Coarse events can identify the public tool and whether a workflow reached selected, started, error, ready, or downloaded.
Network requests the website can still make
The browser must request HTML, styles, scripts, icons, and language resources to display the site. Google Analytics can measure page use. Advertising is restricted to substantial publisher-content pages after policy approval. Cloudflare Turnstile can protect an online helper request, and a genuinely unmatched typed support question can be sent only when that support path is used.
Those website requests are separate from document conversion. The privacy page documents each service and the categories of information excluded from it.
What local processing protects against
Keeping file transformation on the device avoids creating a conversion-server copy and avoids a server-side queue or file history. This is useful for ordinary private documents, drafts, invoices, applications, and reports where unnecessary data transfer is the main concern.
It also lets users work without creating an account. The source remains under the browser and operating system's normal file permissions.
What local processing cannot protect against
A compromised device, malicious browser extension, shared download folder, screen recording tool, cloud-synchronized directory, or unsafe backup can still expose a document. Browser-only processing is not a legal compliance certificate and does not replace organizational access controls, retention policies, or incident response.
Encrypted or digitally signed PDFs also need special care. Decrypt only documents you are authorized to use, and remember that modifying a signed PDF can invalidate the signature.
Safer habits for sensitive files
Use an updated browser profile with only trusted extensions. Keep originals in a protected folder, work on copies, inspect output names before download, and delete temporary copies when the task is complete. On a shared computer, clear the downloads list and follow the device owner's storage policy.
For highly regulated or exceptionally sensitive material, ask the responsible security or compliance team whether browser tools are permitted. Choose the workflow based on the document's risk, not only convenience.
- Prefer a trusted personal or managed device.
- Keep the source and result clearly named.
- Review metadata, attachments, and visible redactions before sharing.
